The Web Editor position requires someone who can excel at multitasking between web and print responsibilities, is deadline driven with top-notch writing and editing skills, and is capable of turning around quality articles for an oncology nursing audience. This individual should be versatile in their writing skills, with the ability to write a feature piece in one breath, and turn around to produce content regarding clinical data in the next. The position will generate daily content for oncnursingnews.com, post daily social media updates, attend medical conferences, and write/edit features for Oncology Nursing News - a leading nursing magazine in the oncology nursing space - currently comprised of nine distributions each year. Additional responsibilities include gathering content and proofreading email newsletters, interviewing oncology nursing professionals, and coordinate content with freelancers. Travel is required. Publishing and CMS experience preferred, and familiarity with medical/oncology terminology and AMA style.



  • Identify breaking and practice-changing oncology news relevant to nurses and write search engine-optimized articles
  • Work with editorial team and/or freelance writers to develop compelling digital and print media, including features
  • Coordinate content for a print magazine and special publications along with a graphic designer. Edit and proofread all completed pages prior to publication
  • Develop content for topic-specific resource centers and emails
  • Post content to the oncnursingnews.com web site daily, and update social media on a regular basis
  • Keep current on developments and trends in oncology nursing and healthcare
  • Able to travel 15% of the time to attend medical conferences


  • Minimum of BA/BS or equivalent editing/journalism experience
  • 5+ years writing/publishing experience, preferably healthcare-related
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong typing and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment, meeting tight deadlines and high expectations
  • Familiarity with medical/oncology terminology, AMA Style, and search engine optimization techniques a plus
