This position works with the Head of Clinical Communications, medical writers, freelancers and across departments to plan, direct, and coordinate activities in preparing material for print and web publication. The individual is responsible for development of high-quality, clinical and scientific editorial content. Ensure scientific accuracy and relevance for target audiences, and strategic alignment of content to the objectives of the activity. Oversee the implementation of the strategic vision and the workflow of projects to achieve completion within specified deadlines. Some travel is required to attend meetings throughout the year. Key skills are the ability to adapt quickly and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.

  • Responsible for project management functions (e.g., oversee production details and publication workflow for multiple projects, maintain project tracker and timelines, create purchase orders, pay invoices, develop and negotiate contracts, other activities as needed to support Clinical Communications)
  • Attend client meetings and populate briefing document
  • Reviewing and editing work from internal medical writers and freelancers consistent with AMA style
  • Independent factcheck, ensure clinical/scientific accuracy of written work, proofreading, checking of layouts against Word documents, making changes using InCopy
  • Ensure content of manuscript is accurate and relevant to readers, clarify revisions, and approve artwork quality and relevance to the content
  • Identify freelancers, peer reviewers and faculty for medical meetings and interviews
  • Research and retrieve literature needed for project content development; manage internal library of resources. Request and track copyright permissions as needed
  • Attend medical meetings to capture presentation highlights or other content for publication
  • Other tasks as required to ensure successful development and deployment of client deliverables



  • College or advanced degree in a scientific/medical discipline
  • At least 3 years related editing/ writing experience (grant preparation, biomedical research, medical education, medical writing, or similar field)
  • Understanding of AMA style, familiarity with client medical/legal review processes
  • Knowledge of PDF mark-up features of Adobe Acrobat and InCopy preferred
