The Medical Writer is a key member of the Clinical Communications team, discovering and distilling medical information and data relevant to assigned products and therapeutic categories. The position also supports development of compelling messages for educational and promotional materials, becoming an expert in assigned categories and serves as a client consultant in interpreting medical and scientific data.




Custom content development:

  • Perform extensive literature review of various disease states, therapeutic advancements, current research trends and clinical data
  • Develop content outlines, manuscripts, and other materials (e.g., monographs, interview questions, slides) with strategic alignment of content to the objectives of the activity
  • Review manuscripts at multiple stages to resolve any potential inconsistencies or inaccuracies. Ensure scientific/clinical accuracy and relevance for target audiences
  • Independently address and incorporate client, peer review, and faculty author comments during publication development process
  • Produce high-quality editorial materials for publication (i.e., articles, presentations, whitepapers) based on meeting coverage; ensure relevance for client and target audience



  • Ensure scientific/clinical accuracy of all pieces through global fact-check of referenced literature
  • Review and edit publication articles and layouts of supplementary content to identify inconsistencies to finalize for print
  • Ensure publications are styled to AMA and in-house editorial style



  • College or advanced degree in a scientific/medical discipline
  • Previous medical writing experience required, agency experience preferred
  • At least 3 years related writing experience (grant preparation, biomedical research, medical education, medical writing, or similar field)
  • Working knowledge of AMA style
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, PDF mark-up features of Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InCopy preferred
