  • Responsibilities

    The Managing Editor position requires someone with top-notch management, writing, and editing skills, capable of directing a team and quickly turning around professionally written articles for busy healthcare professionals. This position will help generate editorial content, oversee social media strategies, attend medical conferences, and write/edit features for leading journals and websites in the healthcare publishing space.


    Additional responsibilities include proofreading content and interviewing medical professionals. Travel is required. Publishing experience and familiarity with medical terminology, AMA style, and social media is helpful.



    • Identify breaking and practice-changing news and write search engine-optimized articles relevant to healthcare providers
    • Keep current on developments and trends in healthcare, and develop editorial calendars and plans to convey relevant and timely information
    • Develop strategies for media production, communication, and dissemination across email, print, and social media
    • Work with editorial team and/or freelance writers to develop compelling digital and print media, including longer features
    • Lead a group of associates through the creations of SMART goals and strategic initiatives
    • Direct and coordinate editorial activities between production, sales, and copyediting/proofreading department
    • Interview key opinion leaders, and produce compelling video editorial content
    • Develop content for topic-specific resource centers and emails
    • Able to travel 10% of the time to attend medical conferences


    • Minimum of BA/BS or equivalent editing/journalism experience
    • 5+ years writing/publishing experience, preferably healthcare-related
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong typing and computer skills
    • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment, meeting tight deadlines and high expectations
    • Familiarity with medical/oncology terminology, AMA Style, social media, and search engine optimization techniques a plus
